Mauricio Pochettino admitted that he might “behave the same” as irate Chelsea supporters, who demanded his dismissal during the draw with Brentford the previous week.

After a dismal first season leading the London club, the former Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain manager—who has yet to win a trophy in England—is currently 11th in the Premier League.

The Argentine stated he had to “accept the criticism” as he got ready to play Newcastle on Monday despite his injured team.

During his Thursday pregame press conference, he stated, “We need to try to improve in the way we play and the result and try to change this feeling.”

“Hopefully, the supporters will be cheering us on on Monday and aiding in the team’s victory.

“Yet, we must acknowledge that football exists.” Since Chelsea is a team that doesn’t live up to expectations, perhaps if I were a fan I would act in the same way as them.

The 52-year-old Pochettino has not been able to revive the lavish club, whose fans are accustomed to winning championships, and there is growing rumor that his position may be in jeopardy.

The most recent player to miss time due to a knee injury is defender Ben Chilwell.

Pochettino stated, “There is always something.” It’s quite annoying and disheartening that the circumstances prevented us from working with the entire team and saying, “Come on, now compete.” However, we must accept the unfortunate conditions.

After losing to Liverpool in the League Cup final last month, he expressed his continued belief that he can turn things around at the team.

“Believing is important to me,” he stated. “I firmly think we can succeed, especially if we evaluate all the factors. Despite all of these issues, we managed to reach the championship game, where we competed for the first trophy and earned the victory after ninety minutes of play.

“We have triumphed over teams like Newcastle and Brighton.”

Prior to this, on Thursday, Chelsea revealed pre-tax losses for the year ending in June 2023 of £90.1 million ($115 million), their first full year under Todd Boehly’s Clearlake Capital consortium ownership.

The amount was also included in the holding firm BlueCo’s filed accounts, which represents an improvement above the loss of £121.4 million in the prior year.

According to Premier League regulations, a club may not lose more than £105 million in three years, therefore more player sales will probably be necessary in the near future.
