However, a picture from the aforementioned visit, in which Bago is seen kneeling before Tinubu, has gone viral and sparked debate among many Nigerians.

Remember that Bago gained notoriety when he agreed with Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party candidate, that Nigeria should not take grain donations from the war-torn Ukraine?

During the Leadership Award ceremony at the Transcorp Hilton in Abuja, Bago referred to Obi as “my boss”.

The governor of Niger remarked to Mr. Obi, “My boss, you are very right on what you’ve said.” “We don’t need to be impoverished. Even if they don’t like you, people need to hear you. You speak the veracity of the gospel.

It is time for us to acknowledge the fundamental reality. We must take care of our own food. It is unfortunate that we are receiving food from people (sic) like Ukraine during a war.

Nigeria must produce results. You need to start producing in order to escape poverty. Palliative care and giveaways are not something I support. It doesn’t seem real to me.

Obi conveyed his dismay and called it a national disgrace that food aid is being given to Nigeria by the war-torn Ukrainian government. Mohammed Idris, the minister of information, refuted the allegation, saying that receiving grain supplies from Ukraine—a country still recovering from war—is not a shame for Nigeria.
