Mrs. Tinubu urged women to support one another as well.
Oluremi Tinubu, the first lady of Nigeria, has emphasized the importance of investing in women as a means of advancing the country.
In honor of International Women’s Day, Mrs. Tinubu made this declaration in a message on Friday (IWD). The topic for this year, “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress,” is a call to action, according to her.
She stated that supporting women in all areas is essential to establishing a nation.
“A very crucial step is ensuring your voices are heard, supporting your businesses, helping to dismantle economic barriers, and providing you with education, resources, and opportunities to unleash your full potential,” she stated.
Additionally, Mrs. Tinubu urged women to support one another.
“So, my question to all women is: what are you doing to help the other woman?” the woman exclaimed. How are you spending money on her?
“Let’s all get together, form bonds, and show each other love.” This is the road to more rapid advancement. I demand of every woman that she get up, one sister at a time. You’ll be in awe of what our team can do together.
The purported marginalization of women
Despite making up half of the global “talent base,” women are allegedly marginalized in developing countries, which prevents them from realizing their full potential in the social, political, and economic spheres.
Family customs, customary law, social conventions, religious practices, a lack of role models, and the unequal value put on women all contributed to this in many different cultures.
Nigeria’s endeavors to integrate women
The administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari initiated initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of life for women throughout the country.
Among these initiatives were the Girl Child Education Program and the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP). The latter was started in an effort to boost the number of girls enrolled in schools.
President Bola Tinubu recently introduced a women’s program called “P-Bat Cares for Nigerian Women,” whose primary goal is to advance women’s social and economic inclusion in the nation.
Nigeria was granted $500 million by the World Bank in 2023 to expand its women’s program. The fund was intended to help the Nigerian government invest and raise the standard of living for women in the country.
The goal of the initiative was to give women more access to the economy, which is necessary to eliminate gender disparity and ensure better health and education.
