The country’s Minister of State for Defense, Bello Matawalle, has given the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) orders to target anyone advocating for a coup d’état.

The News Agency of Nigeria was able to get a statement from the ministry’s Director of Information, Press, and Public Relations, Henshaw Ogubike, that was released on Thursday in Abuja.

In light of the nation’s economic suffering, Mr. Matawalle referred to those advocating for a military takeover as agents of evil.

Thus, he issued a warning, saying that no one caught doing so would face consequences.

“The call for violent change of government by the military is absurd, preposterous, and naïve as the military is focused on their constitutional duty of defending the Constitution,” he stated, referring to Nigeria’s democratic government.

“Those who advocate for the constitutional government to be shortened ought to stop and acknowledge the democratic reality that exists now.

The mere fact that food goods were being transported across the nation via a haulage vehicle and a warehouse is not sufficient justification for disloyal individuals to advocate for military involvement, which is out of step with contemporary society.

“The military is displaying the highest level of professionalism with the defense of our constitution as top priority. They have excellent civil-military relations and are highly professionalized.”

In order to make Nigeria great, the minister asked Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
